Finland's first monkey pox infection was confirmed in HUS on May 26, 2022. The second probable infection now identified has also been acquired on a journey to Europe. The person is in-home care.

The first symptoms of monkey pox may be fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes, back pain, muscle aches and tiredness. Skin symptoms usually begin 1 to 3 days after the onset of fever. A blistering rash forms especially on the face, hands or feet.
