Seaport islands to be developed in Helsinki - new formula enables additional construction and wider use as a sailing and recreation center

The change in the plan approved by the City Council applies to Uunisaari, Liuskasaari, Liuskaluoto, Sirpalesaari, and the surrounding water area.
The Helsinki City Council has approved an amendment to the town plan for the development of the Seaport Islands. The seaport area is one of Helsinki's most popular recreational areas.
In summer there is a tidal connection to the islands in front of Kaivopuisto and in winter you can go to Uunisaari along the bridge.
The change in the plan is justified, among other things, by the fact that in the future the connections to the islands will improve and the area can be used for recreational activities more flexibly than before.
The new formula enables more construction in front of Kaivopuisto and wider use of the area, for example as a sailing and recreation center.
The change in the plan approved by the City Council applies to Uunisaari, Liuskasaari, Liuskaluoto, Sirpalesaari, and the surrounding water area.
Liuskasaari and Sirpalesaari already operate as port ports for sailing clubs.
In winter, the islands have been partly a docking area for sailing clubs.
There are summer restaurants in Liuskasaari, Sirpalesaari, and North Uunisaari, where festivities have also been organized.
