Agreement Between Valmet Automotive and Mercedes AMG
THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN VALMET AUTOMOTIVE and Mercedes-AMG to start production of the touring sports car GT 4-door Coupé means moving all production of that model to Finland, says Pekka Koski, Press Manager of Mercedes-Benz Finland.
Valmet Automotive said earlier today that it will start manufacturing the AMG GT 4d model at the Uusikaupunki car factory as a combustion engine and hybrid version from the fall of next year.
It is estimated that the production of the new AMG model will employ a total of around two hundred people in the different departments of the Uusikaupunki factory, who will be transferred to their positions based on Valmet Automotive's internal personnel arrangements.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4d Coupé is a luxurious and sporty four-door large coupé model that was first introduced in 2018. Technically, the car is related to the Mercedes-Benz E and CLS class models, among others.
The quality requirements related to the production of Mercedes-AMG represent the absolute top of the automotive world, and in addition, the GT 4d Coupé has more equipment options than any car model manufactured in Uusiakaupunki ever before.
The Uusikaupunki car factory has produced sporty luxury cars in previous years as well. The most famous of them include the all-electric Fisker Karma and Porsche's Cayman and Boxster collections.
